Since 2022, Istanbul’s Russian-speaking community has grown sharply — and with it the demand for nannies who speak Russian with the child. Here’s where to look, what it costs and what to watch for.
Where Russian-speaking families live
Demand concentrates where Russian-speakers settle — and that’s not only the most exclusive districts:
- European side: Şişli (Nişantaşı, Teşvikiye), Beşiktaş (Etiler, Ulus), Beyoğlu (Cihangir, Galata) — international neighbourhoods with Russian schools, kindergartens and shops.
- Asian side: Kadıköy (especially Moda) and the Bağdat Avenue area.
- Some prefer space — villas in the gated communities of Zekeriyaköy and Göktürk.
What it costs
As a guide, qualified English- and Russian-speaking live-in nannies in Istanbul earn around USD 1,200–1,800 per month (typically with one day off a week). Newborn specialists and qualified governesses command more. The final figure depends on format, schedule, languages and experience.
